Data controller

GameBin is the data controller for personal data processed through the Service. For privacy requests, contact privacy@gamebin.net or use our contact page.

Information we collect

• Account data: email address, display name, profile information, and authentication tokens when you register or sign in (including via Google OAuth).
• Collection data: games, libraries, shelves, play status, ratings, notes, wishlists, and Reseller inventory you choose to store or sync.
• Import data: when you connect Steam, PlayStation, or GOG, we process library metadata from those platforms to populate your collection.
• Usage data: feature interactions, scan counts, subscription status, and diagnostic logs to operate and improve the Service.
• Device & technical data: app version, platform, approximate locale, and crash reports.
• Social data: profile visibility settings, shared activity, and interactions with other users when you use social features.
• Website data: on gamebin.net, session cookies for authentication and basic server logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited).

Guest mode stores collection data locally on your device without syncing to our servers until you create an account.

Legal bases (GDPR)

Where the GDPR applies, we process personal data on the following bases:

• Contract: to provide the Service, sync your collection, and manage subscriptions.
• Legitimate interests: to secure the Service, prevent abuse, improve features, and communicate important updates, balanced against your rights.
• Consent: for optional platform imports, marketing communications (where required), and non-essential cookies where applicable.
• Legal obligation: where we must retain or disclose data to comply with law.

How we use your information

We use personal data to:

• Provide, sync, and back up your collection across devices
• Enable scanning, catalog search, insights, and recommendations
• Operate social features you choose to use
• Process and verify GameBin Pro subscriptions
• Provide Reseller mode inventory and listing tools
• Respond to support requests and send service-related notices
• Detect fraud, abuse, and security incidents
• Improve the Service through aggregated analytics

We do not sell your personal data. We do not use your collection data for third-party advertising.

Sharing and subprocessors

We share data only as needed to operate the Service, with service providers bound by confidentiality and data-processing obligations:

• Supabase / GoTrue: authentication and account management (api.gamebin.net)
• GameBin API: collection sync, catalog, and backend services
• Apple App Store & Google Play: in-app purchase and subscription billing
• RevenueCat: subscription entitlement management
• RAWG: game metadata and catalog attribution
• Hosting providers: infrastructure for gamebin.net and related services

We may disclose data if required by law, to protect rights and safety, or in connection with a merger or acquisition with notice where required.

Social features may display information you choose to make public to other GameBin users. We do not share your full collection publicly unless you configure it that way.

Retention

We retain personal data while your account is active and as needed to provide the Service. When you delete your account or request erasure, we delete or anonymize your data within a reasonable period, except where retention is required for legal, tax, or legitimate business purposes (e.g. billing records).

Guest-mode data stored locally on your device is under your control and is not retained on our servers unless you sign in and sync.

Security

We use industry-standard measures including encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS), access controls, and secure authentication. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security. Report security concerns to privacy@gamebin.net.

International transfers

Your data may be processed in the European Economic Area and other countries where our subprocessors operate. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent mechanisms approved under applicable law.

Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

• Access a copy of your personal data
• Rectify inaccurate data
• Request erasure ("right to be forgotten")
• Restrict or object to certain processing
• Data portability
• Withdraw consent where processing is consent-based
• Lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority

Export or delete your data from app settings, or contact privacy@gamebin.net. We respond within the timeframe required by applicable law (typically 30 days under GDPR).

Cookies and analytics

gamebin.net uses essential session cookies to keep you signed in and maintain security (including CSRF protection). We do not use third-party advertising cookies on the marketing site.

We may use privacy-respecting analytics to understand site usage. You can control non-essential cookies through your browser settings. Blocking essential cookies may prevent sign-in from working on the web dashboard.

Children's privacy

The Service is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact privacy@gamebin.net and we will delete it promptly.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the revised policy on gamebin.net and update the "Last updated" date. Material changes will be communicated via the app or email where appropriate.
